Nature Investment Hub proudly welcomes six new partners: Canadian Biosphere Regions Association, Honeytree Investment Management, Kwaxala, World Wildlife Fund Canada, Workshops for Biodiversity (Ateliers pour la biodiversité), Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative.
“Across Canada and beyond, organizations are seeking out new ways to fund nature conservation, restoration, and stewardship. They are looking for opportunities to leverage their skills, expertise, and networks” said Priya Bala-Miller, Managing Director of the Nature Investment Hub. “And they are leaning into collaboration – because it’s together, across disciplines and geographies, and by leveraging our diversity of lived experiences, that we can test ideas and move to action”
“That is why we are so excited to welcome six new partners to the Nature Investment Hub. These organizations join a growing network that believes in the power of collective action to meet the urgency of the moment.”
Connecting to the work of biosphere regions across the country: Canadian Biosphere Regions Association
Canada is home to 19 biosphere regions, each serving as a collaborative innovation hub that is balancing environment conservation and economic development, while considering social and cultural needs within the local context. The Canadian Biosphere Regions Association stands both as an organization in its own right and as the collective voice of these 19 regions.
“Biosphere regions through the Canadian Biosphere Regions Association are uniquely positioned to both learn from and amplify the Nature Investment Hub. Together, this partnership strengthens the reach and impact of nature-positive investments at the local, community level and nationwide.”
— Kate Potter, Executive Director, Canadian Biosphere Regions Association

Standing up new financial instruments for forest regeneration with Indigenous sovereignty at the centre: Kwaxala
Kwaxala – a name derived from the word “k̲̓wax̲a̲la” which means “forest, lots of trees” in Kwak’wala – is building a network of legally protected, regenerating forests in the Southern Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia that are majority-owned and governed by Indigenous Nations. Kwaxala’s Living Forest Fund, and Living Forest Shares product, delivers equitable and transparent returns, both for Indigenous owners and for investors.
“We are honoured to be invited to partner with the Nature Investment Hub and to stand alongside others reimagining how capital can serve life. For Kwaxala, this work is about more than protecting forests—it is about advancing Indigenous sovereignty and self-governance through an economic model that aligns with Indigenous worldviews rather than working against them. By flowing finance into regeneration, we can strengthen the leadership of the planet’s most proven stewards while safeguarding our most precious global assets, helping us all redefine our relationship with place.”
— Pete Corke, Director of Vision & Leadership, Kwaxala
More than half a century of work for species and habitats: World Wildlife Fund Canada
WWF-Canada is the country’s largest international conservation organization. Through science-based conservation, Indigenous partnerships, and on-the-ground projects, WWF-Canada advances practical solutions to reverse biodiversity loss and fight climate change. Their bold 10-year plan, Regenerate Canada, sets three ambitious goals: restoring one million hectares of lost or degraded ecosystems, stewarding at least 100 million hectares of vital ecosystems for wildlife and communities, and reducing carbon emissions by 30 million tonnes by restoring carbon-rich habitats and protecting current carbon stores.
“WWF-Canada is pleased to join the Nature Investment Hub as a Network Partner. We know that scaling investment in nature is critical to efforts needed to halt and reverse biodiversity loss, and build resilience to climate change. As a Network Partner, we’re looking forward to learn more about ways that nature finance can support restoration and conservation work throughout Canada, collaborate with other organizations involved in nature finance, and continue relationship building with Indigenous organizations by learning more about their priorities in relation to nature finance and investment.”
— James Snider, VP of Science, Knowledge and Innovation, WWF-Canada
Convener of business on key biodiversity issues: Workshops for Biodiversity (Ateliers pour la biodiversité)
Workshops for Biodiversity (Ateliers pour la biodiversité) mobilizes stakeholders to integrate biodiversity into their decision-making. They achieve this mission by designing and organizing workshops and training courses on biodiversity, and by working on concrete projects to mainstream it into the practices and decisions of Quebec stakeholders, with the aim of achieving transformative change. Flagship events include the Nature and Business Summit and Economy and Biodiversity Dialogue Day.
“With the current biodiversity finance gap, it is clear that we need all hands on deck. We are pleased to join the Nature Investment Hub and its partners to help mobilize investment for the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of nature in Canada. We bring experience in convening diverse stakeholders and building capacity for action, and together this growing network has the collective skills and resources needed to close the gap.”
— David Roy, Executive Director, Workshops for Biodiversity (Ateliers pour la biodiversité)
Transboundary collaboration for conservation: Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative
Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative is a collaborative effort between a U.S. non-profit organization and a Canadian public charity that together connect and protect habitat from Yellowstone to Yukon – an area spanning 3,400 kilometers and at least 75 Indigenous territories. Since 1993, Y2Y has worked with over 730 partners to drive large-landscape conservation forward.
“Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) is proud to announce our new partnership with the Nature Investment Hub. Y2Y supports this important initiative through research, thought leadership and technical expertise so that together and with others, we are advancing innovative nature finance solutions that help to halt or reverse biodiversity loss, and progress important conservation work. By aligning investment with ecological and community priorities, we can build a future where both people and nature thrive.”
— Dr. Jodi Hilty, President and Chief Scientist, Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative
